Neco Arc originates from a 2000 Type-Moon novel called Tsukihime. It is a catgirl parody of Arcueid Brunestud. it spreads from Neco Arc compilations in games like Melty Blood and Carnival Phantasm. It later became a meme in 2021 with several memes in social media.

In 2021, Neco-Arc received renewed interest with the announcement and release of a Tsukihime remake titled "Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon". A trailer for the remake was uploaded to YouTube on December 31st, 2020. The game was released on August 26th, 2021 in Japan for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4. The game led to a surge in Neco-Arc memes on social media, now Neco-Arc wants to dominate the blockchain.
